As an offshoot to your fifth point, I’ve been thinking about the phenomenon (increasing, I think) of the “lone wolf DHer.” As DH scholars move from being localized in Centers to being hired to be THE representation of DH at institutions, how does this change the field? It’s not the same as being THE Shakespeare scholar or THE Victorian scholar, I think. How do you function as the representation of the field if you’re alone? How do you be “productive” and what does this look like?
